4 Smoothie Recipe Ideas

Smoothies can be an excellent addition to a balanced diet when made thoughtfully and with wholesome ingredients. They can provide a convenient way to increase your intake of fruit and vegetables, fibre, nutrients and antioxidants. 

Breakfast Smoothie:

Ingredients:

  • 1 ripe banana
  • 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk (or any milk of your choice)
  • ¼ cup oats
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon or peanut butter 
  • Ice cubes (optional, for a cooler drink)

Method:

  1. In a blender, combine all ingredients.
  2. If you prefer a cooler drink, add a few ice cubes before blending.
  3. Blend all the ingredients until smooth and creamy.
  4. Pour your breakfast smoothie into a glass. Enjoy! 


Berry Blast Smoothie:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup mixed berries (blueberries, strawberries, raspberries)
  • 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt.
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk (or any milk of your choice)
  • 1 tablespoon almond butter
  • 1 tablespoon flaxseeds (ground or whole)
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • Ice cubes (optional)

Method: 

  1. Combine the mixed berries, Greek yogurt, almond milk, almond butter, flaxseeds, and vanilla extract in a blender.
  2. For a colder smoothie, add a few ice cubes and blend again.
  3. Blend all the ingredients until smooth and creamy.
  4. Pour the berry blast smoothie into a glass and enjoy this antioxidant-rich treat!


Green Energy Boost Smoothie:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup baby spinach leaves
  • 1 ripe banana
  • 1/2 cup cucumber (peeled and chopped)
  • 1/2 avocado
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • 3/4 cup milk, coconut water or any plant-based milk of your choice
  • 1 teaspoon manuka honey (optional)
  • Ice cubes (optional)

Method:

  1. Add the baby spinach, banana, cucumber, avocado, chia seeds, and almond milk to a blender.
  2. If desired, add a teaspoon of honey for sweetness.
  3. Blend all the ingredients until smooth and creamy.
  4. For a colder smoothie, add a few ice cubes and blend again.
  5. Pour the smoothie into a glass and enjoy your refreshing green energy boost!

 

Tropical Paradise Smoothie:

Ingredients:

  • 1 small ripe mango (peeled and pitted)
  • 1/2 cup pineapple chunks
  • 1/2 cup coconut water
  • 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon shredded coconut (unsweetened)
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lime juice
  • Ice cubes (optional)

Method: 

  1. In a blender, combine the ripe mango, pineapple chunks, coconut water, Greek yogurt, shredded coconut, and fresh lime juice.
  2. For a colder smoothie, add a few ice cubes and blend again.
  3. Blend all the ingredients until smooth and creamy.
  4. Pour the tropical paradise smoothie into a glass, and enjoy a taste of the tropics!
