4 Delicious Salad Dressings

Salads can be a healthy option for a balanced diet. To maximize health benefits, choose a variety of colourful vegetables, incorporate lean proteins and healthy fats, and be mindful of portion sizes and dressing choices. Homemade dressings are a great way to control what goes on to your plate.

1. Tahini Dressing – Tahini is very versatile and it’s fantastic on all sorts of salads and roasted vegetables.

Ingredients:

  • ¼ cup smooth tahini  
  • 3 tablespoons water, more if needed.
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice  
  • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup 
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
  • 1 small garlic clove, grated
  • ¼ teaspoon salt 

Instructions: In a small bowl, whisk together the tahini, water, lemon juice, olive oil, maple syrup, sesame oil, garlic, and salt until smooth. If the dressing is too thick, add more water, ½ tablespoon at a time, until it’s a drizzle able consistency.



2. Lemon Vinaigrette - This tasty salad dressing is a great choice to help brighten up your favourite salads and vegetable dishes. Toss this lemon vinaigrette with a simple green salad or drizzle it over cooked veggies like grilled asparagus or roasted beets.

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup
  • Salt and pepper

Instructions: Whisk olive oil and lemon juice. Mix in honey or maple syrup for a bit of sweetness, season with salt.



3. Caesar Dressing - Versatile, creamy, and delicious. This version works well as a dipping sauce or a dressing.

Ingredients:

  • ⅓ cup natural Greek yogurt  
  • 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard  
  • ½ garlic clove, minced
  • 1 teaspoon capers, minced.
  • Salt and pepper

Instructions: In a small bowl, whisk together the yogurt, olive oil, lemon juice, mustard, garlic, capers, salt and pepper. 



4. Avocado Lime - Creamy, cool, and refreshing, this avocado lime dressing works great on salads or served as a tasty dip for fresh veggies.

Ingredients:

  • 1 avocado, cut into small chunks 
  • 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1/3 cup cilantro
  • 1/4 cup lime juice
  • 4 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves minced garlic 
  • Salt and pepper

Instructions: Add all ingredients to a food processor, pulse until the mixture reaches a smooth, thick
consistency.
